Do i need an dog breeding licence in England?

Count across all your dogs, not per dog. Consider any rolling 12-month period, including recent litters and firm plans that could fall in the same period.

Include puppies sold later as adults and arrangements involving something of value in exchange.

Answer Yes only if all are kept or genuinely given away and you can document this. Keeping one puppy does not mean keeping the whole litter.

For example: repeated sales or advertisements, breeding with a view to profit, commercial promotion, or substantial sales values or margins. A hobby label does not decide this. Choose Not sure if you need help assessing the business test.

For example, breeding only qualifying assistance dogs, or an activity involving a registered rescue charity or scientific regulation. Select Not sure if relevant; this checker does not determine these exclusions.
